Reviews of A YEAR AT THE BALLET
A YEAR AT THE BALLET
Published: 06/10/2011 by Steven Woodruff in Articles
It’s been just over a year since I started writing reviews covering dance and music. This story is a kind of memoire of the year. It includes some humor but mostly it addresses the serious concerns of reviewing. Use the links to find the reviews.

WIDE AND WISE

I think Mr. W, That such a dedication and profound knowledge is absolutely needed to review Art in general now days. It seems in many cases that even those who review, either only try to please the performing entity, or come to the theatre with their pen sharp as a knife, and ready to destroy the simplest detail of what they see.
You see, as an artist I feel the need to hear feedbacks rather from those who have the sensibility to understand and know Art as it is, with space for interpretation and the most important thing for me, that it is to reach somewhere within the human spirit to find feelings of joy, tears, laughter , love and so on.
I do believe however that a review serves both sides, the people who went to the theatre and those who did not. There is much to learn from a good review. Nothing should go to waste.
Thanks Mr. W

Even writing about his own writing, Mr.Woodruff is never less than clear, intelligent, original and winning. Looking forward to the next year. And the next. And thank you, Mr. W.
