BRIGHT STREAM REVISITS THE COLLECTIVE IN STYLE
Published: 07/16/2011 by Steven Woodruff in Reviews
Bright Stream has waited nearly seventy years for a revival since its successful debut in 1935 in Leningrad and Moscow.Though its original creators fared poorly Ratmansky has been successful with Bright Stream, Namouna, and also his recent Nutcracker for ABT.This sparkling example is what contemporary story ballet can be when it is set in the hands of a gifted choreographer. The ballet, with Ratmansky's choreography,is also in the repertory of the Bolshoi but with different designs and costuming.

Distinguished

Mr Woodruff is as clear and colorful and touching as the art he covers at its best. He seems never to be less than at his best.

excellent review as always

Again Mr. Woodruff writes a review which, after reading it, lets me imagine that I was actually in the theater myself that evening. It is refreshing to read arts criticism intended to intelligently and accurately describe what went on and describe it without the ever-persistent and awful ego-driven personal agenda of the critic. Woodruff is doing a great service to the arts community of LA.
